Arbor Care wins prestigious workplace safety award

18 November 2014

Arbor Care Ltd has taken out the ACC Workplace Safety Award at the Westpac Tauranga Business Awards.

The award judges said Arbor Care stood out due to the individual commitment of each of the management staff regarding the safety and well-being of their employees. The judges applauded Arbor Care’s constant evaluation of the effectiveness of its health and safety systems – this included gathering input from employees on how health and safety could be continuously improved.

“The impression given is that the company’s overall culture is genuinely geared towards the welfare of all personnel and the adoption of best practice rather than mere compliance.

“Arbor Care demonstrated commitment to being an industry leader in health and safety and set an example to other businesses in this critical juncture in New Zealand’s occupational health and safety development.”

Arbor Care owner and managing director John Meehan said it was the first time his company had entered the Westpac Tauranga Business Awards, and to emerge a category winner was especially pleasing.

The company holds tertiary accreditation (the highest accreditation) with the ACC Workplace Safety Management Practices programme.

The Westpac Tauranga Business Awards’ co-ordinator Anne Pankhurst says the event showcases the region’s business talent and capability.

“They are a platform for paying tribute to those building our economy and community,” she says.
